Wikipedia definition: A moving average is commonly used with time series data to smooth out short-term fluctuations and highlight longer-term trends or cycles.
Aka rolling average.
It removes spikes and supports trend analysis as show in the FuelLog screen shots. The average consumption is just that - an average of all data points and of limited use.

The FuelLog method of selecting displays for individual vehicles would be an improvement in uncluttering screen real estate, but I imagine that that would require a complete system philosophy change

I was under the impression that the online sync would give me an option to enter and see my data online on the web as well as my phone. I understand that is not a feature offered by appcubby right now but I would like to request to please have a web interface of the gas cubby application.

I would agree this would be great.

alternatively, maybe allow the data to be loaded on Fuelly.com instead. maybe linking the account or something like that.

thx

You might be right. Where did you get that information?

Any chances to connect the gas cubby information to our fuelly.com account?

I agree, Fuelly import would be good.

Here is what the columns need to be
The first row of your CSV file must contain column names, outlined below. The data for each column should be separated by commas and match the following types:

odometer (Required for odometer trackers)
Your odometer reading as number with up to one decimal place.
miles or km (Required for tripometer trackers)
The distance traveled as a number with up to one decimal place.
gallons or litres (Required)
The fuel volume as a number with up to three decimal places.
fuelup_date (Required)
Date of Fuel-up in this format: YYYY-MM-DD or M/D/YY.
price (Optional)
The price/gallon or price/L as number less than 15 with up to three decimal places.
notes (Optional)
Text up to 500 characters.
tags (Optional)
Up to 15 keywords separated by spaces with up to 50 characters/tag. English characters only.
missed_fuelup (Optional)
A bit field (1 = yes, 0 = no) for odometer trackers that lets Fuelly know a fuel-up reading was missed.
partial_fuelup (Optional)
A bit field (1 = yes, 0 = no) that lets Fuelly know a fuel-up was not completely full.

Hello. I would like to be able to make the milage calculate and record instantly at that fillup instead of showing up on the next fill up. I like to track milage with changes in weather and outside temp ect instead of on the fuel that was purchased, the weather has a greater effect on milage. Having it calculate from the last tank makes it harder to correlate that milage with temperatures ect on the graphs and charts.

Please add a option to calculate milage off the trip meter instead of the overall Odometer reading.

Thanks

We may offer the option to move it around, but we're inclined to come on a little stronger to explain why that is inaccurate. See the following thread to discuss it further - viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1188

It's being considered.

I searched "debit charge" and didn't see this topic so if it exists, please point me to it. And if this should be in the feature request section you may move it if possible. Thanks

I sometimes buy gas at Arco and they ad on a $0.45 charge for using a debit card. I'd like to include that charge with the gas purchase since it's an amount I can write off, but if I add it to the total charge it skews the cost/gal. Is there a way to handle this now? So that the $0.45 charge can be counted in on the total amount paid for gas over a report period (maybe as an ON/OFF option or a separate total at the bottom), but also not skew the cost/gal? I guess I could put it under the services section, but it's not really a service. It's just an added expense.

And also, what about if I buy something like a quart of oil? It would be on my credit card charge so that I can keep track of it and match receipts to the charges in GasCubby, but it's not part of the fuel purchase price.

I realize these aren't really gas mileage dollars but they are related to vehicle maintenance which is what GasCubby is designed to do.

Thanks

Frank

We'll likely offer something like this in the next major update to Gas Cubby because it will indeed require a major change to get that in there in a useful manner. A related request we've had is for discounts on gas; for example, if you have a particular credit card, you get a flat rate discount on the fuel and want to somehow track that discount to help you determine how much is being saved.
