STATUSES UPDATED 5/27/09

Since most of the posts the this forum are feature requests, I've decided to create a consolidated feature request thread. We're hard at work on a new version of Gas Cubby, and want to get user input on which features are most important to our existing users.

BEFORE POSTING A FEATURE REQUEST, please read all posts in this thread. Any duplicate requests or off topic posts will be deleted. From time to time, the individual posts will be consolidated into this main post. If anyone has the time and can dig trough old posts to find all the various requests and post one long list, that would be much appreciated!

FEATURE REQUESTS:

1. Stats Page - Using the data collected from fill ups and service records compile interesting stats.
a. Cost per mile/km
b. Cost per gallon/liter
c. Miles/km per dollar
d. Maximum MPG (km/L, L/100km, etc.)
e. Minimum MPG (km/L, L/100km, etc.)
f. Projected annual costs
g. Projected annual miles/km
**Done... available in v2.0

2. Line for Averages in charts - for each chart, show a line that represents the average of the data being shown.
**Done... currently beta testing

3. Sync - Online sync to enable multiple devices to share data.
**Done... available in v2.0

4. Custom Service Reminders - Make custom Service Types work as custom service reminders.
**Done... available in v2.0

5. Date filter buttons on Charts
**Done... available in v2.0

6. Detail view navigation - using a swipe gesture or buttons, make it easy to move from record to record in the detail view.
**Done... available in v2.0

7. Add tire size and recommended pressure to vehicle data page
**Done... available in v2.0

8. Tag locations with GPS for auto entry - When storing a Location automatically store GPS data along with it. When Gas Cubby launches, look for current location and autofill Location information if near an existing data point.

9. Allow users to customize Octane ratings in Settings
**Done... available in v2.0

10. Add Setting for calculator style number pad
**Done... available in v2.0

11. Auto-enter prior data (Location, Gas Brand, Octane, and Payment Type) to speed data entry
**Done... available in v2.0

* Shifting tires on specific dates. In Sweden we have Winter tires and Summer tires. You are not allowed to run with either Summer tires in Winter or the opposite. So Shifting tires with to cut off dates would be great!

* Checking tire pressure. Could this be a separate item? Many filling stations are unmanned and does not provide for this. So you need to go to the bigger stations and usually don't fill up at the same time. Perhaps a reminder for this as well.

* Our currency is written after the value i.e "120 kr" not "kr 120".

* I second the GPS autolocation feature!!

* Change the search button. I had to look in the manual to find the export function. Not logical!

And a bug with partial fillups. I started my usage of Gas Cubby with a partial fillup.
Try these fillups and check the graph:
Gas 2008-10-12 20.07 Mondeo 60 746 Full 28,540 kr 12,09 kr 345,05 90 0,0 kr 345,05
Gas 2008-09-24 20.20 Mondeo 60 485 Full 47,560 kr 12,84 kr 610,67 90 0,0 kr 610,67
Gas 2008-08-31 15.15 Mondeo 60 124 Full 53,010 kr 13,13 kr 696,02 90 0,0 kr 696,02
Gas 2008-08-31 15.13 Mondeo 59 993 Partial 10,020 kr 13,50 kr 135,27 90 0,0 kr 135,27

I definitely agree with and would like the online syncing feature. Also the ability to add/change/remove info from the website would be awesome!!

Also, could you sort the tags/locations/etc. lists by name? If I have several places listed, they are currently shown in the order that I added those items.

Thanks for this excellent program!

To go along with the "cost per" requests, I'd like to have a total cost per month, as well as an average cost per month spanning the last few months. I can see it working as a graph.

***I would like to see individual costs instead of total when entering services. Most the time I save up money and do a few things to my truck at one time.

***Also there should be a way to change the order of the vehicles.

***One other thing is when replacing parts or other services it would be nice to take a picture or two of what was done.

Thanks for making my dream app a reality!

I've seen this feature request in other threads in this forum but not in this 'feature request' thread, so apologies in advance if this is considered a duplicate.

Feature: Odometer units should be a per-vehicle attribute. In the event that a vehicle's odometer unit does not match the preferred unit of gas economy, the app should do the conversion.

Example: I'm a Canadian living in the US; one of my vehicles has an odometer that uses KM, another uses miles. I'd like to be able to enter KM for the one car, miles for the other, but have the app calculate MPG for both vehicles.

Even if I switch the global settings back and forth when I enter data for either vehicle, trying to compare the data between vehicles will always be skewed due to the mismatch between the vehicle's actual odometer unit and the global odometer unit used in the calculation.

Feature Request: Track oil consumption

Anytime an oil change is done on my car I now keep track of how much oil came out of the car prior to performing an oil change. Also from time to time I'll check oil and have had to add oil to my car.

I wish there was a way to 1) store how much oil should be in the motor 2) keep track of how much oil was lost prior to performing an oil change, or how much oil needed to be added at any given point between oil changes. So basically, the baseline measure is how much oil SHOULD be in the motor, and another line or points that show when it dipped below/above that mark. Yes it can be above sometimes people add too much oil to their vehicles (thankfully I've never been that retarded lol). Of course in addition to storing how much oil was added or was lost, store in what the odometer reading was to track it over time.

This is a great way to keep a long time track of your motor's efficiency in addition to simply tracking gas mileage. Especially for older cars, oil consumption is very important.

I would Like to see an extra graph that depicts MPG vs Brand of Gas used.

How useful could that really be though? There are SOOOO many external factors that can be attributed to mileage (temperature, amount of city vs highway driving, how much traffic you drove in, how you actually drove the car, whether you used the AC, tire pressure corrections) that I'd be very skeptical of the results without also looking at all the external factors that attributed to that information. And the same applies to how it's currently calculating mileage.

Hi, I am a frequent user of Gas Cubby and I've bought almost all available gas tracking application from App Store and currently I've switched to Gas Cubby permanently. I like it very much, although I see a lot of things that could be improved.

1. Gas Price Per Liter Chart - could be customizable to group by gas brand, tag or octane (currently it's grouped by octane and since octane choice is not customizable yet, it's unusable to me).
2. Total Gas Expenses Chart - I don't see any point in this chart unless there's an option to see average expenses per month/week/day. Sometimes I fill 10 L, sometimes 60 L, sometimes I fill-up several times a day, sometimes once a week... Now I see a useless earthquake diagram :) A bezier curve that shows average expenses per month/week/day (customizable) would make a real difference. Any point on curve would show how much money/fuel would I spend per month/week/day if current MPG value would be fixed.
3. Partial fill-up could use a slightly different icon in the list.
4. Typing for Liters/Cost-per-liter/Total-cost should start with whole number unless I tap "." to enter fractions (a predictable behavior for any calculator by the way).
5. Digital keyboard could mimic calculator style and not a phone style (zero — left-aligned and bottom-right button could be enter/done, at least for odometer). I know, it's already done in beta, but my point is about enter/done button.
6. Gas price could be pre-filled based on gas brand/tags/octane/previous_entry
7. I like grouping Liters, Cost/Liter and Total Cost during data entry. What I would like to see is adding odometer readings and full/partial selector to this group. That could double data entry speed for me.
8. The ability to swipe left/right in charts and zoom in and out in timeline.

I will really appreciate to have my ideas commented by developer. ;-)

Thank you!
