Right now, Gas Cubby associates the gas mileage with the tank of gas just bought. I can understand this for people who are tracking mileage as a function of gas type.

Since I would rather track gas mileage as a function of highway miles and driving habits, it makes more sense for me to have the mileage computed at fillup, so I can see how efficiently I drove since the last tank of gas. This is just an offset of 1 in the computations, but it would be tremendously worthwhile to have available.

It would be nice if this could be set as a preference.

In case my wording above is unclear, here are numerical examples:

fill up with 5 gallons of gas on April 1 --- gascubby lists 25mpg
drive 250 miles
fill up with 10 gallons of gas on April 10 --- gascubby lists 40mpg --- I would rather see 25mpg
drive 320 miles
fill up with 8 gallons of gas on April 30 --- I would rather see 40mpg

Thanks,

Bill

We had a thread not too long ago on this topic. It got a little heated so I'll just point you to it.

Ah, I see. I tried looking around for such a thread, but clearly missed it.

The intensity of the debate points to the need for a preference, because neither side thinks the other makes sense.

Cheers,

bill

I totally agree to linking the gas mileage with the tank of gas just bought because when you fill up the tank you are replacing the fuel used for the mileage just driven and not for the mileage you will be driving.

Start: 80 | End: 526 | KM driven: 446 | Litres used for the KM driven: 45.229 | Therefore 10.141 L/100K

As was mentionned in another forum, why not have the choice?

Regards,

Chris
